  He's not escaping the Titanic. He's still on it, insisting that it is not sinking and trying to convince passengers that there is no need to panic and that they all should go back to their rooms.   When you're bleeding Patrons every month, the last thing you want to do is add a tier double that of the previous high. Maybe a handful of $25 a month people fall for it, but the optics are bad for possibly $100-$200 more a month. He already has a well-earned reputation for being highly concerned with how much he is paid, and this doesn't help that. When he says he is "improving engagement" and making it more "sustainable", and the only obvious thing he did was make a newer and expensive tier, it only explains the "sustainability" part. He's trying to do more with less Patrons. He's finally understanding that he's not getting these Patrons back and he needs to guilt his remaining supporters into giving more.

  He's the ship's purser on the Titanic. As the ship is listing badly and taking on water, Lloyd's knocking on the doors of steerage passengers and trying to upgrade them to the newly vacated state rooms.

  Interviews are easy to conduct and they don't involve him watching a JWB episode to take notes. He probably has a boilerplate interview template where he asks general questions designed to engage the interviewee for lengthy sequences.

  The fact he needs to ask on social media for former subjects he had previously rejected reveals he's scraping the bottom of the barrel. It's like that last Van Halen album no one asked for that saw them digging up old cuts from the 70s and having David Lee Roth sing over them.

  I think he sees the 399 Patrons without his usual bump of 5-10 and is finally recognising he has a huge problem that isn't going to correct itself.

  One of his first posts here he came up with the idea for the survey. People were supportive of him and wished him well. So he pays €400 to SurveyMonkey and comes back here with his hand out, thinking encouragement meant the same people should reimburse him. A mod shut him down and it made a lasting impression. So much so that when he wrote his book 5-6 years later he recounted nearly every detail of that exchange, making the point that exJWs seem to oppose him more than the WT.

  His acquaintance with Patrick Haeck was described in the book and it revealed a bit about how he goes about getting free shit. Haeck and his extended family planned a trip to the Croatian coast and he invited Lloyd and wife to meet up. He then relates how they were nearly broke but showed up anyway. Not only did Haeck insist they stay in one of their rooms, he booted out his son and girlfriend from theirs and had them sleep on the sofa so Lloyd and Dijana could have their own room to themselves.

  What Haeck did was kind and generous. But what Lloyd did was intentionally impose himself and his wife on people he only knew online. If you’re broke, you kindly decline the invitation and instead invite them to your home afterward. Haeck made his way to their home anyway and Lloyd stood by as he built his daughter’s room and left him expensive tools to keep.

  He relayed all this as some sort of tribute to Haeck, but it was clear he was all too willing to get a free holiday and his apartment finished at someone else’s expense.

  He later dressed as some sort of monk in sandals and allowed Haeck to pay for his now family of three’s trip to Belgium so he could officiate his son’s wedding (in English of course).

  The precedent was set. If you wanted Lloyd and family at an event, you pick up the tab.

  It's like everything else on his Patreon goals page - utter nonsense and pure illusion.

  Here's what he promised for 220 Patrons:

  He hasn't made one documentary yet this year and he has 182 more Patrons than this goal. Fraud.

  The TED Talk is contained within the promise of 380 Patrons:

  I would have the resources to film videos and documentary films in different parts of the world and organize more tours and special meet-up/promotional events internationally. Having reached this goal, I also pledge to do a TED talk that touches on the abusive, harmful side of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

  No TED Talk, no meet-ups, no tours and no documentaries in foreign lands. Why even bother? His Patreon goals remind me of an age-old retail trick of doubling the existing price and then promising the customer a 50% off sale.

  It's all sales and the bottom line. He doesn't really give a fuck anymore about fulfilling promises because his Patronage has been falling since January and he's not giving you shit until you put out some more. (I think he might have used that same tactic and wording with his "dates" in Pa Tong)

  Sad to say I was beat as a young child and learnt to behave and sit quiet at meetings. I was so conditioned to it my mind became numb and I naturally wandered off.

  What I couldn’t tolerate was field service anymore. But if meeting attendance were the only requirement to be a JW, I might have lasted a couple years longer than I did.

  Jabba the Hutt has already done this, in the form of the “haircut” rant and how Kim’s actions have come close to taking food off the table for his young ones and toys away for Christmas. I can’t stress this enough but he has ALWAYS done this. When he was here and married with no kids, he would BLAME people for keeping him away from his wife because they responded to his own heated responses. He blamed me and sbf for harming his marriage once, and when it was suggested that he take a break from the forum and spend more time with his wife, he’d attack further, accusing us of wanting him gone because we were “losing” the argument so badly.

  Anyone else would have a huge sense of shame if they blamed others online for him not being able to pay child support. Not him. What happened to the gallant father who would get on his knees and scrub floors if it meant his kids would eat? Not this asshole, he thinks it’s YOUR responsibility to fund him enough so he could support his kids.

  The very reason his patron account has tanked is that he will not responsiblity for his own actions.

  I think people have caught on that his lawsuit is a bunch of horse shit. His problem is he was insistent from the beginning that the M7 were criminal defendants and he couldn’t wait for the law to exonerate him and the “criminals” imprisoned or fined. He’s painted himself into a corner and the only way he gets out is a conviction.

  He needs to realize that people are strapped for cash now more than ever.

  He really needs to be recognizant of the impending global recession fueled by already high levels of inflation and skyrocketing fuel prices. Charities (which he is) are typically among the first hit. Paying Lloyd to “bring WT down” is going to sound even more silly when placed next to energy bills you can’t even pay in full.

  It’s becoming clear that not all of the 400 or so remainers are card carrying pious members of the Church of Lloyd. Many actually hold him to his bullshit of exclusive Patreon content. He regularly cancels Patreon livestreams and virtual meet-ups for illnesses or what not and then doesn’t bother to hide his tracks when going to karaoke or doing stand-up. His content is so recycled and sparse he can’t afford to blow one on a Patreon exclusive. He needs as much as he can “churn out” in order to lure in those to replace the ones who have left. He hasn’t done one documentary this year as promised when he hit 380, though he might not even be held to that anymore by January.
